Job Descriptions:

  • Works with the project manager to ensure implementation of MPX's SHEQ management systems, including integrating MPX's SHEQ requirements into systems requirements into all site plans and procedures and record-keeping requirements
  • Set high standards of behaviour and lead by example at all times by complying with all HSE regulations and QA requirements including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety Act & Ontario Regulations, Environmental legislation and Quality requirements
  • Takes positive action to correct poor SHEQ practices, which reinforces the message in the company Construction Canada's management systems
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports
  • Takes necessary progressive disciplinary actions when needed
  • Manage Union staff including but not limited to onboarding, off boarding, time sheet submittal & disciplinary action
  • Manage and be the first point of contact for any area of temporary works that are delegated to them by the Senior Superintendent
  • Liaises between site coordinators and project managers to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications
  • Liaises with client, other site contractors, union and labor relations, and site and office representatives
  • Visualizes and plans the entire project, implements the project schedule, delivers to the critical path logic, and anticipates constructability issues
  • Oversees and manages development and implementation of Construction Management Plan and resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules
  • Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts, and develops a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met
  • Maintains project administration correspondence, and complies with documentation

Job Requirements:

  • Must have aquatic experience (means have someone who has built a “Large Pool”)
  • 10-12 years of progressive field supervision experience preferred
  • Journeyman certificate or postsecondary diploma/ engineering degree in a related discipline
  • NCSO designation required
  • Recommended: Gold Seal certification (CDN); certificate in negotiation or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in construction industry, construction trades and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures
  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply complex engineering principles and embed solutions in construction plans and schedules
  • Ability to complete value engineering and define scope and limitations for pursuits
  • Understanding of project schedules and ability to identify the critical path Expert understanding of schedules
  • Strong ability to communicate with clients and sub-contractors
  • Intermediate level of understanding of and ability to apply logic to the schedule in order to build a plan using scheduling software
  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling, monitoring, and coordinating self-perform work and trade contractors with three-week lookahead schedules
  • Ability to create a detailed labour forecast for upcoming month
  • Thorough understanding of productivity rates and Labor Cost Reports, and ability to interpret cost reports
  • Ability to complete material, labor, and equipment takeoffs
  • Thorough understanding of contract language with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and identify leverage opportunities
  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with the client, consultants, trades, self-perform work, and internal employees; ability to present at client meetings or for project pursuit work
  • Understanding of collective agreement and jurisdiction assignment for multi-trade sites
  • In-depth knowledge of and application of Health, Safety and Environmental principles/procedures/legislation and demonstrated experience implementing a strong Health and Safety culture
  • Knowledge of virtual construction software and tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Procore, and ability to interpret Procedure Administration Manual (PAM)
