Our client in the Automotive industry is currently seeking a Lead Technician for their Port of Spain branch.

Job Summary

Supervises the daily activities of the Technicians and ensure that tasks are performed and completed at the Company’s/Brands standards whilst at the same time adhering to efficiency and productivity standards. Strict adherence to operating and administrative guidelines including the Company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment System (HSSE) and all Covid 19 protocols is required.

It is necessary that the position holder becomes familiar with the Company’s Dealer Management System/CDK and must complete mandatory On- Line Training within the agreed timelines.

The position holder must display high levels of professionalism.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Logs in at the location in keeping with administrative guidelines and be at the designated work station at 7:45 a.m.
  2. Foster and build working relationships with the team of Technicians.
  3. Assign tasks to Technicians via the Electronic Repair Orders (ERO’s).
  4. Supervise the activities of the team via quality checks and ensure that tasks are performed in accordance with the Company’s/Brands standards and repair time.
  5. Ensure that all jobs listed on the ERO are completed by the assigned Technician.
  6. Seek explanation/s from the assigned Technician\s for all unresolved repairs as per the ERO and ensure that substandard work is corrected before vehicles are road tested and released to the customer.
  7. Monitor “comeback jobs” and bring same to the attention of the responsible Technician/s. Seek explanations on the frequency of “come back jobs.” Advise the Service Manager as required.
  8. Refer information on jobs requiring additional time and or parts to the Service Advisors.
  9. Perform technical work via the use of scan and other diagnostic tools and refer matters outside of competence to the Assistant Manager and in his absence the Service Manager.
  10. Lend technical and other support to the Technicians as required.
  11. Advise the Assistant Service Manager on the delay of spare parts and other items required to carry out repairs/service.
  12. Ensure that all warranty parts are secured and tagged for storage.
  13. Assist with the road testing of vehicles together with the affected customer when and as required.
  14. Deliver completed vehicles to the Assistant Service
  15. Work with the Assistant Service Manager to ensure that Technicians are enrolled for On- line training and they complete same in accordance with the respective Brand’s guidelines.
  16. Based on observation and or requests from Technicians, documents a list of technical and other challenges being experienced and submit to the Assistant Service Manager for follow through.
  17. Complete mandatory On -Line Training within the allocated time.
  18. Ensure all HSSE procedures and Covid 19 protocols are strictly adhered to by the Technicians.
  19. Prepare various reports.
  20. Conduct Tool Box Meetings.
  21. Perform other duties associated with the position.
  22. Logs out at the end of the business day using the automated Bio Metric Machine. (Finger printing machine.)

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of Three (3) CXC subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Minimum certification as an A Class Automobile Technician.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience performing technical automobile repairs.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of motor vehicle systems.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • A valid Trinidad and Tobago driver’s license.
