Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, Faculty Program Associate to join the Carol A. Ammon College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences to provide support to our departments of Art and Design and Theatre. We are seeking applicants with knowledge and experience working and maintaining shops for Art and/or Theatre departments.

About CCSU’s Art and Design Department

In the Department of Art & Design, academic experiences are intended to broaden individual talent and artistic abilities, stimulate creative processes, develop skills needed to accomplish career objectives as professional artists, designers, and art educators. The department also oversees exhibitions at the Central Art Gallery and organizes a Saturday Art Workshop for K-12 students.

About CCSU’s Theatre Department

The mission of the Central Theatre Department is to provide a stimulating educational environment that enhances students’ understanding of self and others through the design, creation, and performance of live theatre. Through educational excellence, experiential learning, and modeling of the collaborative process, the Theatre Department equips students to make quality artistic contributions for audiences at large. The Theatre Department is proud to host three (3) main-stage theatrical productions and a spring musical every year. The department will be hosting the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Region 1 for the next several years.

Position Profile

The Administrative Faculty Program Associate will assist in maintaining organization and safety in the art and theatre shops. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in executing the outputs of each shop and their respective productions; ensuring safety measures are followed; May assist employees of a higher grade in the completion of routine assignments such as planning, coordinating, preparing and executing services, programs, and events and May assist employees of a higher grade in the completion of routine assignments such as planning, coordinating, preparing and executing services, programs, and events.

Evening and weekend work is occasionally required.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

Education:

Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in related field.

Experience and Training:

Two (2) years of professional experience in the performance of entry level duties as assigned to designated unit and/or program.

Note: Graduate Intern and/or Graduate Assistant experience in the area of study and/or practice of the designated unit and/or program shall be prorated as appropriate.

Substitution Allowed: Successful completion of an approved Administrative Faculty Trainee program shall substitute for minimal qualifications.

Certifications and successful completion of training programs may be required prior to or during appointment.

Ideal Candidate

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Shop and/or studio experience
  • Demonstrated experience to maintain inventories of consumable supplies and equipment.
  • Understanding of appropriate health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience to maintain Art and Design and Theatre shops to ensure organizational and maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrated experience to assist in the building of scenery for theatrical productions.
  • Demonstrated experience working in higher education.
  • OSHA 10 Safety Training

Compensation and Employee Benefits

The Administrative Faculty Program Associate is compensated at the Administrator II salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
