We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Claims Manager/Director to oversee our mortgage claims department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of mortgage claims processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and leading a team to maximize recovery and minimize losses. This role requires a strategic leader who can enhance our processes and deliver results that contribute to the overall success of our company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the mortgage claims department, including setting strategic direction, establishing performance standards, and supervising staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure efficient and compliant claims processing.
  • Oversee the investigation of claims to verify validity, assess coverage, and determine appropriate compensation.
  • Collaborate with the legal department and external legal counsel on litigated claims and issues of potential liability.
  • Analyze claims data to identify trends, prepare reports for senior management, and recommend improvements to reduce risks and costs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and ensure the department complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with insurers, third-party administrators, and other external partners.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for claims staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Handle complex claims negotiations and settlements.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the claims department.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mortgage claims or a related field, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products, claims management processes, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
