Electrical Controls Technician

Position Title: Electrical Controls Technician

Location: Flowery Branch, GA

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor/Engineering Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrical Controls Technician to join our team in Flowery Branch, GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical control systems used in various machinery and equipment. This role involves working with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other control devices to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, Maintain, and Repair Electrical Systems:

    • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and other control devices.
    • Perform regular maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they are operating correctly and safely.
    • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  2. Programming and Configuration:

    • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems.
    • Develop and implement control strategies for automated machinery and processes.
  3. System Upgrades and Modifications:

    • Assist in the design and implementation of system upgrades and modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
    • Work with engineering and production teams to develop and implement process improvements.
  4. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
    • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and regulations.
  5. Technical Support and Training:

    • Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance staff on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
    • Assist in the development of training materials and standard operating procedures.
  6. Safety and Quality Assurance:

    • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Perform quality checks to ensure all work meets the required standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with electrical control systems in an industrial setting.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
    • Strong understanding of electrical schematics and control diagrams.
    • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician) are a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
